born in 1987

Daslight has been on the forefront of technology ever since the beginning. The first Daslight software package was born in the summer of 1987. This was a time of great innovation in the lighting industry with the first lighting control software based around a graphical user interface (GUI pronounced "gooey").

The first release of Daslight was designed for the Commodore Amiga- one of the first multi-tasking systems available at an affordable price for general consumers. The first sales came a few months after with packages available for the Amiga500 and Amiga2000. The hardware came as a card which could be inserted inside the computer and the software was delivered on a 3.5 inch floppy disk.

Daslight was one of the first computer based lighting controllers. The first product range consisted of 32, 64 and 128 channel cards all using the 0-10v output protocol.

As we move into the next decade, Daslight continued researching into the latest systems coming available, in particular the new Windows computer systems and DMX lighting protocol. 1994 saw the release of Daslight NT, available for Windows NT and Windows 95. With the ability to output 512 DMX channels this was one of the first computerized DMX512 controllers.

Daslight continued to grow throughout the 90's, improving its features, graphical interface and growing in popularity internationally. Progressing into the new millennium, 2002 saw the release of one of the worlds first ever USB-DMX interfaces compatible with 32 bit versions of Windows XP. Shortly after stand alone versions became available allowing programming to be made within the software and for the show to be stored inside the internal memory of the USB interface and run without a computer.

In 2011, Daslight integrated the USB interface design into a touch sensitive wall mounted housing with a glass front. This provided the Architectural market a hardware solution allowing them to take advantage of the simple and powerful Daslight software to control their lighting installation.

2016 brought the release of the biggest software update since the beginning of Daslight, featuring a complete re-write of the entire software along with a new brand design. For the first time ever, Daslight was made available on both the PC and Mac operating systems.

After nearly 30 years, Daslight is one of the most popular brands for lighting control software and is sold in more than 80 countries all over the world.
